Computer Associates and Data Fellows have formed a partnership to add
Data Fellows F-Secure security system to CA's Unicenter TNG.
Data Fellows will provide an add-on module to connect its F-Secure
Workstation Suite with Unicenter TNG. The Suite provides file and network
encryption, malicious code detection, anti-virus, and other security
features, officials said.
The combination of F-Secure with Unicenter TNG will allow users to
centrally manage security on a platform they already have, according to
Petri Laakkonen, president of Data Fellows, in San Jose, Calif.
"The Unicenter user can, all of the sudden, use that major investment
they already have to manage security in their infrastructure," Laakkonen
said. "The most important point is the fact that [IT managers] are already
using Unicenter and they are concerned about using multiple different
consoles or management tools to manage network security."
Security has largely been absent from enterprise management applications
until a focus on Internet commerce has brought the issue to the fore,
according to Laakkonen.
"[Unicenter] hasn't focused on security very well. Security hasn't been
part of the infrastructure for such a long time yet. It's like an
afterthought for those management system vendors," Laakkonen said. "Now
we need to extend [security] integration to be part of the enterprisewide
management system through integration with CA Unicenter"
Data Fellows has also joined the CA Development Partner Program.
A small add-on module to connect F-Secure Workstation Suite to Unicenter
is slated for release by the end of the first quarter of this year, with
pricing to be determined. Data Fellow's F-Secure Workstation Suite starts
at $149 for a single per-seat license.
