Serb Hackers Declare Computer War
22-10-1998 16:31

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia (AP) -- A group of Serbian computer hackers
declared a cyber war against Internet sites the hackers say are anti-Serb,
a Belgrade newspaper reported today.
A young man, who phoned and identified himself as member of a team of
hackers known as Black Hand, also claimed responsibility for the crash of
a Kosovo Albanian site on the World Wide Web.
"We shall continue to remove (ethnic) Albanian lies from the Internet,"
the young man was quoted by the newspaper Blic as saying.
The site was up again today, but its webmaster Edmond Hajullaaga
confirmed that it had been crashed "several times in the past three days."
The caller said the five-member group next plans to hack NATO's site,
but gave no further details.
Ethnic Albanian media and organizations in Serbia's troubled Kosovo
province have for several years used the Internet to reach a world
audience. Recently, the Serbian government has also created several Web
sites.
At the turn of the century, a group of Serbian officers known as Black
Hand planned a coup. The officers are believed to have been behind the
execution of a Serbian crown prince and his common-law wife.
