WebTrends Corporation Announces Beta of WebTrends Security Analyzer v2.0;
Intrusion Prevention Product Detects Wide Range of Vulnerabilities and
Provides Solutions
12:02 p.m. Oct 05, 1998 Eastern

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--WebTrends Corporation, the
leader and pioneer in enterprise management of Internet servers and
firewalls, today announced the WebTrends Security Analyzer v2.0.

The WebTrends Security Analyzer detects security vulnerabilities on
Internet, intranet and extranet servers and firewalls, as well as Windows
95, 98 and NT systems. The beta product is available for download directly
from WebTrends Corporation web site at http://www.webtrends.com/wsa.

"Security analysis is one of our customers' most requested features,"
said Glen Boyd, president and CTO of WebTrends Corporation. "Our mission
is to provide complete management solutions for web professionals,
webmasters, IT/IS managers, and administrators in charge of Internet and
intranet networks. The WebTrends Security Analyzer will help customers not
only detect, but also fix security vulnerabilities to prevent hacker
attacks on web servers, firewalls and other Internet systems made
available to the outside world."

WebTrends Security Analyzer

Formerly known as the Asmodeus Security Scanner, which WebTrends
Corporation acquired earlier this year, the WebTrends Security Analyzer
offers a wide range of security testing policies, from simple port scans
to complete security analysis. In addition, administrators can define
their own testing policies. The product includes an expert knowledge base
on security risks that enables it to: -- Identify risks associated with
unreliable system configurations and hidden shared resources -- Rate the
risks associated with each vulnerability detected -- Offer fixes and hot
links to platform vendors providing additional information about the
security risk

The analysis results are stored in a relational database and can be viewed
by Hosts, Vulnerabilities, Fixes Required, Services and User Accounts. The
WebTrends Security Analyzer can also produce complete and comparative
reports in HTML and Microsoft Word formats. Analysis scans and reports can
be automated with a built-in Scheduler, or run as a standard application
or a Windows NT system service.

The WebTrends Security Analyzer has the same award-winning user interface
common to all WebTrends products, making it easy to learn and use.
Standard features include enterprise-wide management of multiple analysis
profiles for individual systems, workgroups or entire networks, and a
robust on-line help system.

Detection and Fixes of the Latest Security Issues Reported by the Computer
Industry

The WebTrends Security Analyzer is committed to detecting the most recent
security issues reported by Microsoft, Netscape, industry security groups,
and even hacker groups. WebTrends Corporation will continue to provide
updates for the WebTrends Security Analyzer as security issues and
vulnerabilities emerge. The updates will be available for download from
