WorldCom Unit Rolls Out Security Service
WorldCom Advanced Networks launched a security service yesterday that's
aimed at helping companies monitor their networks for security breaches.
SecureSweep, which uses scanning technology from Internet Security
Systems, will periodically simulate attacks on a customer's network to
find any vulnerabilities. Once a scan is completed, the customer will
receive a list of vulnerabilities on each system and recommendations on
how to fix them, say officials at the WorldCom unit.
The service also employs assessment tools and security audit packages from
Fortrex Technologies, HomeCom Communications, Microsolved Information
Security Consulting, NJH Security Consulting, and Vanstar. WorldCom says
it will add more partners by year's end.
Available now, SecureSweep is subscription-based, in packages of one, two,
four or 12 site scans. Pricing ranges from $1,600 to $10,000, depending on
the number of scans.
