SARAJEVO, Feb 4, 2001 -- (Agence France Presse) A 35-year-old Bosnian
may be the first person in the country to be tried for hacking after
he allegedly broke into the system of an American company operating
locally and destroyed its main database, the local press reported
Sunday.

Police pressed charges against Admir Tinjic, from the eastern town of
Tuzla, who allegedly broke into the system of the Brown and Root
company, causing some 190,000 dollars (203,000 euros) of damage,
Dnevni Avaz daily said.

Tinjic, who denied all charges, is a former employee of the company,
where he worked for five years as a key computer programmer.

The Brown and Root company is in charge of maintenance of the computer
system of U.S. troops serving with the NATO-led Stabilization Force
(SFOR) in Bosnia. ((c) 2001 Agence France Presse)
